It’s been a restless start. And unsurprisingly, since I already put it in the title, I landed on this year needing my commitment in writing.
I know we’re well into January and the time for resolutions is over, but my challenge is going to be 52 weeks from this day forth.

Focused, not on videos.
Not on posting.
Not on staying connected.
Not on career.
Not on social life.
Not on friendships.
And not even on my love life, which is saying something because that has been a priority (a quest!) for a very long time, but No.

This is the year of writing.
And of leaning into the tremendous social pressure I still feel when I say that out loud.

Yet trust me, it is the only true answer.
And it has been, for 20 years because 2026 is my 20 year anniversary of being a writer, and I immediately sensed the shift when it happened.
I knew my life would never be the same again, and that I would be in a forever battle between offering the world a palpable version of myself.
And what I truly was.

Someone devoured by creativity.
And with tremendous power.

I have tried to water it down, cushion its razor sharp edges, paint over its neon colors, and sweeten its astringent taste. But ultimately this is just who I am and what is very much going to be part of our relationship.
And the safest thing I can do for both of us, is be upfront about who you’re dealing with.

Even if you work with me in one of my many other roles, this thing will tower above us.
It will color everything I do or say, it has been a part of me for two decades and I have become it.
The tower and the person are one.

For 52 weeks, I will write 10 hours a week, including making the Canva (which is visual storytelling) and long form or personal correspondence.

I will also stop lying about how much it matters to me, to be a writer.
And if you push, I will even admit how shockingly little everything else matters to me.

I will finally and fully accept that what happened 20 years ago, can no longer be undone.

I am a writer.
