about you and me

Do you know, the metaphor?

At the foot of the mountain are the villages.
Where most people live without ever feeling the desire to move up higher and explore the upper tiers.

Then there is the majestic top of the mountain.
Here, the people are enlightened and wise, and oversee the entire landscape.
They know both what is coming in the distance, as well as converse with the stars in the sky.
They have a strong calling to serve the communities down below.

But this is not where we are.

We are on the slopes, where the cold morning clings to our clothes, wets our skin and our feet plow through the mud.
We meet few others but can see their traces;
The ashes of a fire.
Dark shadows, following a distant river.
Gear left behind a long time ago, like the stories you will tell me just one last time.

You used to belong to the village, but you question your purpose there.
Or you came down from the summit, and you too want one more chance to test your vision.

These are the forests where nothing is defined and we can choose to go up, or go down.
It is a land of Unknown, and few will feel inclined to visit it.
But you came.

When your work here is done, you will move on and you will always know where to find me.
Because this is my home.
