A Twin Flame. Soulbond. And other concepts which also came up, as I engaged in the pleasure of deciphering what it all means!
The men.
The crushes.
And how it’s always the same men who made a real mark.

In the realm of soul twin jargon, which I did not learn until recently, regular relationships have an entirely different status.

I would describe them as more tangible, but also more pliable. Susceptibel to improvement. And they’re happily tied to all kinds of structures such as family, friends and other social networks, but also to government organizations slash, institutions.

F.e. in the Netherlands a Living-Together contract has the same status as marriage.
Effectively, and involuntarily, tying the knot for couples still on the fence when migrating here from abroad.
Foreshadowing that here all formally acknowledged relationships are treated equally.

Yet soul bonds, on the other hand, do not require anything to survive.
Not words, not confessions, not declarations, not visibility, and no paperwork.

But despite being so ethereal, I do think even soul bonds can be undone.

The method I have seen working, multiple times actually, is when you fall in love, choose, but most importantly have sex with your soul bond’s friend. Preferably their best friend but definitely without informing the soul bond.
Boom! A nuclear blast.

And there may be other methods, which I don’t know. However normal breakups do not work for soul bonds. Not even when followed by no contact for years in a row.

If anything, the (telepathic?) bond becomes more pure, more intense.

Because what is really made in heaven, cannot be undone by Man.
Not unless you’re prepared to bring extremely big guns.

What I can add 2.5 years after writing those sentences is that they’re still valid. Yet although I cannot name new social media or other digital sorcery that may now permeate your carefully created walls more than before;
I do think something has made our jobs harder.

But what, right?
The news, the wars, the mayhem?
A multitude of global threats closing in?

What is it, that has shifted so dramatically to our detriment that I’m pretty sure I’m right on this one, yet cannot name it?
Don’t know…

But walling off to concentrate on your creative work has become more difficult, and many would argue irresponsible.
This comes from the idea that art is always created in conversation with the world.
The art of walling off is also about choosing which parts of the world to let in.
And about which parts of your own story, or your own suffering, to share. In particular when they are tied to larger events, or to a broader audience.

And yet, devil’s advocate here, I always regretted it when I did. I totally understand the stance that artists are the most logical choice to interpret and make sense of our times.
Make records of it.
Yet when I did tie my work to my personal experiences, or to a particular hook on current events, it ultimately never aged well.

Not even when what I had made had helped people. It sounds so selfish to admit that the content was feeling meaningless despite knowing it had been of tremendous value.
Yet, maybe, this reveals the point.

That it’s not about whether your work is hailed or rejected. But to create simply, and only, what you are called to, on that particular day.
To never ever look back.

And to trust that the walls will hold.

I don’t know if I just didn’t get the memo, or if it was a generational thing and will automatically be ingrained in later generations, but I didn’t have a clue about how patriarchy worked or capitalism, until shockingly late in life.

And although I’m sure there’s nuances which I will never be able to understand because my brain is no longer flexible enough to attain mastery here;
I did land on two simple rules of thumb which, so far, got me through.

One.
Anything of value, is in your own time.

And two, which I usually ignore because it’s just so bleak:
That all aggression and criminal behavior go unpunished when ran over existing power structures.
Being held accountable for your crimes basically means you are committing crimes above your paycheck.

Like I said: Bleak.
And that I’m possibly missing a few nuances here.

Compare it to medieval bestiaries where the giraffe has a short neck, the whale looks like a fish and the hyena is a horned cow who digs up people from their grave.
In the same way, my view of how capitalism and patriarchy work is more the product of a rich imagination, and less about facts.

I cannot offer you an accurate evolutionary theory on patriarchy, anymore than a medieval bestiary depicts anatomically correct beasts.

But I can offer you this:

Your survival depends on awareness that patriarchy and capitalism exist.
And having a broad idea of what it looks like.

One day the Darwin of capitalism will rise and rescue us with an Evolutionary Theory. But until then, it is up to us to collect pictures of the beast and learn what we can.
Who has a long neck and eats away above our head.
Who harvests the oceans.

Who will feed of our corpse straight from the grave.

Someone told me we’re starting a new 8 year long cycle.
Although I have not been able to track exactly what the astrological profiles of this year are, two search results immediately caught my eye:

The year is considered a “Universal Year 1”, because of its numerology.
2+0+2+6=10= 1+0 = 1
It’s about to give us a complete reboot, no exception (because it’s “universal”).
By the end of this year, none of our lives will be the same.

And in February, notoriously slow moving planets Neptune and Saturn will be coming together in Ares (the first sign of the Zodiac) for the first time in 36 year.
And aside from their slow moving nature and both representing a male energy;
These two planets are definitely on two opposing sides of the spectrum personality wise!

Saturn represents structure, karma, the inevitable. It represents a truth that cannot be changed.
While Neptune represents not just delusion but also imagination and a boundless reality that spans across all dimensions and includes all beings, the living and the dead, and the unknown.

With these two opposing forces both coming together in Ares, the sign of the boisterous and brave Ram – the only one strong enough to save humanity’s ass right now because it keeps pushing forward without looking up nor back! – both our lives as well as our minds will be stretched to their breaking points.

I expect this year to be an equalizer (the “universal” aspect);
But also the year we have to choose what we want to save.

Saturn will demand us to be consistent and will hold us accountability for every choice;
And Neptune will clear what’s left, taking anything we’re wishy washy about into the depths of the ocean.

2026 is a year of reckoning.

There are few moments I remember more vividly from the memoir “Eat, Pray, Love” than the moment Elizabeth Gilbert is on the bathroom floor sobbing because her marriage and life are falling apart.
For the first time in her adult life she turns to God, in prayer.

She asks God what she should do, and God answers:
“Go to bed Liz.”

Sometimes life is so overwhelming that we forget the basics of our self-care.

But it also reminds me of a quote I definitely have no recollection of where I heard it or who said it, but it is a pretty well known one.
It’s about a wisdom that you need sit for an x amount of time in meditation every day.
Except when you’re really busy:
Then it’s double.

We’re so busy solving the not-working things that come on our path, or investing in the goals we want to accomplish, dedicating entire chapters of our life to them;
That the day-to-day seems expendable.
Something we can brush aside until we have sorted all that other shit out.

Except, of course;
It isn’t.

You cannot go without sleep, or social life, or keeping your house in good shape.
Regardless of you not remembering five years from now if you attended to them or not.

But on a deeper level, it will have made all the difference if the upcoming years you live by what you know to be true in the area of self-care;
Or if you let it be overwritten by every other urgent thing.

The way I am tackling it recently, is that I dedicate just as much planning and strategy to the self-care as to the rest.

It has its own journal/ planner.
It’s own daily moment of reflection of how the past 24 hours went and what can be improved.

It’s the pillar that says:
You are more than just your work.

You are still human.

For seven full years, I followed the same mentor. She had a change of direction, distancing herself from the work she created when I followed her. Yet if anything my connection to that same work has grown even stronger over time.

It reminds me of my fondness for romantic relationships where there is a borderline insurmountable distance between us.
I have been a fan from male idols since I was a teen. But in my case, this was not a phase but an early sign of my preferred relationship style;
Distance will be mandatory.

And it can be the only element, meaning “we” can have only the distance and not the relationship, as was obviously the case with Jon Bongiovi and Axl Rose, who were my teen idols.
My love blooms in the space between us.

So when the mentor created this distance, the space she left behind excited me.
This was now mine to fill.

It’s been “years” without her *) -quotation marks since she never left my thoughts and I kept studying her work – but it is not until now that I start to see the logic, the brilliance, the deceptively simple principles that were the rock solid foundation under her work.

A set of them, although she never said any of these out loud, would be;

If “it” cannot be NOW?
If at least some action cannot be done immediately?
And if it is not something that you will ingrain and carve into your everyday reality, to be with you until the end of your days?

Then don’t do it.

In all likeliness, your life currently consists of two things:
1. The things you wanna do every day.
AND
2. The things you resent doing;
Postpone;
And then an endless list of shoulds, wants and dreams.

Only one of those two things is your purpose.
And it’s not the second.

Today, finally, I woke up energized and excited. Because after years of following this creative calling, as described above, I am now in such smooth and easy waters.

Because I figured out WHY creativity is such a complicated calling.

The good news is:
None of it has anything to do with the art itself.
You being inspired to create something will always be the unpredictable, inefficient, vulnerable process, that demands you to show up will all your attention, and give the best of yourself.

Like slugs only eating the freshest youngest leaves (and I remember even going as far as eating only the tip of the asparagus, but I think that is myth since asparagus grows underground!);
In the same way the snail of your creativity will insist on having “only” the tip of the asparagus of your time.

And you can go feed the stalk to the rest, your creativity really doesn’t care.
Just don’t bother them with such inferior, your-attention-all-over-the-place-or-in-your-phone-crap.

Who could blame them.

However!
Aside from our creative calling clearly having impossibly high standards, being territorial and ruthlessly pushing the competition out;
It is all incredibly good news.

Because those asparagus stalks and full-grown crop your creative snail refuses to eat?
Provides excellent building blocks to build what you really need.

Systems.

This can be a business, a blog, a content planner.
A sales strategy, a job, a career, a community.

Your success, growth, and peace of mind are not in the quality of your art.

They’re in how well you’re able to build a system to deliver value;
Or on how well you are able to deliver value within already existing systems.

It’s not just the rule for artists;
This goes for everybody.

Every time I am certain I’ve now thought enough about my peculiar life choices, that I’ve recalibrated yet again and yes still stand by what must seem  like odd choices, at surface level at least;
I get sucked into a new cycle.

Making just one small course correct!
Just a little something I found on the internet!
And that makes so much sense and will just increase the impact of whatever it is I am doing, bring what I desire, or that will solve that aching problem;
I end up in failure and frustration, yet again.
And sit down thinking it over.

Without exception, I notice it was all already exactly as it should be.
That the problem was not in me choosing the wrong interventions;
It was in me still being susceptible for solutions or tempting upgrades to begin with.

But the work that needs to be done will flow through you!
And if it doesn’t, then it’s not yours.
It will get done by forces bigger than us, or, alternatively, it doesn’t need to get done at all.
Maybe it was merely a projection of some outdated belief about being good or being responsible.

You know what is responsible?
Acting on your calling.
Which means doing the work that arrives at your doorstep, or in your thoughts, again and again.

But after that?
No longer your problem.

Maybe you feel CALLED to promote your work, or to find a place where you will be paid for it.
Then go ahead!
It’s part of the calling.

Maybe you feel called to save your work, curate it, publish it.
Great!
Clearly part of your calling.
You could feel CALLED to save someone else’s legacy and publish that.

But as a rule?
What happens to your work, is not your work.

Thank God.

The older I get the more I realize:
“We don’t build anything. Don’t actually create anything either. Not really.
It is already done.”

There is a driving force beneath it, that we can feel and make the most of, or we can ignore it and try to make something with our own bare hands 100 meters to the right of it.
Achieving of course, nothing.

Because the foundation, the groundwork, was never supposed to be done by us.
It was already woven into the fabric of our existence, and we were only meant to pick it up from the thresholds of our dimension, and bring it into our world.

And this exceeds professional and creative endeavors;
It is in everything.
Or, alternatively, it isn’t.
And then it will never fly, never really be done, and fall apart the moment you take your eyes off of it.

I believe – and you might fiercely disagree with me on this!- that all the work is done in the other dimension. Our own influence is incredibly limited.
Which can be both a good, as well as a bad thing.

It’s good news, if we’re drowning in destructive emotions like hate (including self-hate), shame, despair and terror.
It would take some force from a dimension we do not understand, to manifest anything irreversible there.
You not being the main creator of your reality, could be the very thing that saves your ass here.

But the alternative is also true;
If we really, really want something, and no matter how we come at it, reality just won’t budge?
Oh that sucks.
A lot.

It can pay off to look for movement in this fabric of our reality.
Where does it vibrate with expectation?
Where does it stretch and expand, as if something is coming into existence?

Where, does it call your name.

It’s been over two years since I wrote those words.
And by now I can testify that sometimes dreams get stuck, are not what they seem, and it can be frustratingly hard to carve out the actual dream from the solid mass in which they’re hiding.

And also that not knowing where you are on the journey, can be a blessing.
The reason I could work in 2023, was because I felt so on track!

And yet, little remained of the things I started. 

You can be excited about being en route, when the ultimate destination, if you even want to call it that, ends up having very little to do with where you thought you were going.

And yet, had I not gone after my dreams in 2023, I would never have ended up where I am today.

Here’s what I learned:

The most important one is to “just” start; But to keep it small.
Avoid designing a long-term path, and instead focus on making small steps.

Every journey and project, even the failed ones (maybe especially those!) provides so much valuable information about yourself and about your dreams as well.
And about how to get there.

See your attempts at achieving your dreams simply as experiments, and not as a binary thing where it is good if “it worked”, and you failed if there are no results.

Every attempt provides you with information.

The second piece of advice is to let your path be rooted in something you love doing.

F.e. I love abstract thinking, writing and planning.

But yours could be being part of a community, sharing your dreams with a (business) partner, or connecting in other ways.

You may have to actively sculpt your path to include those elements.

But after 2 years and 4 months?
It’s all that remains.

ABOUT THE LOST POST SERIES

I have been consistently posting “What Do Rock Stars Need To Hear Today” for a while now.
Starting June 2023, they found their final form as blogposts here on the Catacombe blog, pretty quickly.

But I’ve always been aware there were singular posts/ borderline poetry, still on social media, floating somewhere down my timeline.

Some at the beginning when I did not know what this series would be.
Some around the time in October/November 2023, when I lost access to this site.
And then a few in between.

And in addition to that there are the ones I did post on the blog, but whose stories revolve around things I no longer offer.
I will retrieve those too;
And give them a new story, that has the timeless quality they deserve.
