“I don’t know”
Those words are your friend.

Because it’s not in the hows, the 5 step plan, or the knowing and the understanding of the thing that makes it move, or holds it together.

It’s you breathing life into it.
—
I have seen the movie Project Hail Mary twice, and watched its runtime worth in YouTube videos as well.
They go deeper into the film’s success and what it tells about friendship.
Because the human carrying this film develops a friendship with an alien.

Together, they save both their worlds.

The human is a scientist-turned-school teacher Ryland Grace, a.k.a. “Grace” played by a disarming Ryan Gosling.
The alien looks like a five-legged spider made out of rocks.

Because Grace cannot understand Rocky, Grace gives him a voice using a computer.

“Rocky like.”

Now Rocky can talk, and we can hear what he has to say.

“Rocky Grace save stars.”

Which of course, is easier said than done. Back on earth, the mission leader had admitted it was a long shot but also said to Grace that he was smart.
“You’ll figure it out.”

Or, as Rocky would say:
“Words of encouragement.”

Project Hail Mary describes how waking-up lightyears away from home;
Having been sent against your will;
And with a challenging mission;
Can turn into the best thing that ever happened to you.

Because you meet an alien who turns out to be the best friend you ever had
<STATEMENT>

Not despite these challenging conditions;
But because of it!

“Save Earth. Save Erid,” Rocky writes on a chalkboard for Grace, right before he loses consciousness.

Had Grace still had other scientists who could have helped him?
Or had Rocky still been part of the large Erid mission crew, that originally populated his spaceship?
None of this would have happened.

But now, Rocky sets up his workshop right next to Grace’s laboratory.
Sure, they find the answers and build the solutions they need, yes.

But more than that, they build one hell of a sturdy, cross-galactic, inter-species friendship.

“Amaze. Amaze.”

And also, start small.
On difficult things or the stuff that might get you injured if you overdo it.

Turn up the dial on pleasure, on joy, on passion and on purpose.
But do it slowly.
—
In midlife the worst thing happened, as well as the best thing happened.
The lemons brought me to the lemonade.

And that sweetness would never have happened if life’s lemons had not first brought me to my knees.
And not in a good way.

Looking back it’s almost impossible to estimate exactly how much I resent this horrific time, without acknowledging the priceless lessons, transformations and perks it brought me.
All things that were so profoundly spiritual that I feel embarrassed to admit what I praise this period the most for.
The actual lemonade, the sweetness this time brought me, is something very basic;
It got me on hormones.

And medically speaking, you have to start when middle-aged for best effects and to do it the safest.
The way I understood it, had I let the time-window of middle-age pass, my hormone receptors would have started to perish, making hormone therapy far less effective.
But without having been so sick?
I would never have asked for them nor would they have been offered or suggested to me within the Dutch healthcare system.

But that’s not the end of this story, because I have to rebuild my capacity for everything.
Social interaction.
Travel.
Concerts.
Everything that involves a lot of sensatory input.
Through trial and error, hour by hour.

The way I see it now, is that just like with the hormones, we have “receptors” for everything. And not using them, might mean losing them.

So everything that is worth a lot to you? Keep developing it!
Keep pushing the bar.

And everything you have not done in a very long time, even if it’s stuff that’s easy for others; Start small. But start.

Awaken your receptors.

Physically, mentally, financially, time-wise;
Let the right one in.

I don’t consider myself psychic. Or, if I’m honest, I do still consider myself psychic, but all evidence points to that I’m not since all predictions I made with regard to love, have proven to be false.

Luckily for me, these were not events that played out on a world stage, and if I had not told you about it you would not have known.
So no harm done.
Yet it frustrated me I got this wrong, and started toying with the idea of making my intuition and psychic abilities more accurate.

I landed on desiring an endgame where everything was told to me by spirits or higher powers.
Accurately, preferably.
But the whole experience of being informed by higher powers or mystical entities alone, was already highly appealing.

Around this time, when I realized all my predictions had fallen flat, someone said that they would never “contact” unseen powers or “entities”
Quotation marks for contact, because I would never actively contact through a seance or anything. And quotation marks for entities, because I don’t have a less spooky word.
But you get the idea.

Words and nuances aside, it was clear that I held a different belief in the matter.
And not because I thought contact with the unseen was always harmless.
I understood the concern.
But there was a difference of opinion, which was that I was much more weary of the dangers of everyday interactions and of systems that hold our society together.

The legal and financial consequences of marriage or having your own business for example.

I’m not saying it’s healthy to overthink these kinds of constructs, but to me these unforeseen consequences of regular life choices are more scary than the idea of accidentally opening the gates to hell.

Being vigilant of who or what you allow into your life, is a 24/7 job.
It cannot be limited to keeping out the Ouija board.

Energy beats stagnancy
Power crushes perfection
And there’s probably tons of stuff going on in the cosmos

Because there always is.

In case you are reading this the moment it is published, everything is in Aries now.
From regulars Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars, to slow movers Saturn and Neptune.

On a nostalgic side note:
It’s Saturns once-every-27-years stop in Aries, that could explain the revival of the 90s era.
Saturn was in Aries, in the late 90s.

The Force is strong with this one.
The first sign of the Zodiac and identified as the warrior, quoting Star Wars here again:
Aries, is about raw, untamed power.

There are many things that went dramatically wrong with the sequel Star Wars trilogy, released December 2015, 2016 and December 2017.
But one thing it did do;
This trilogy got me on the wagon.

Or at least the two instalments 2015 (The Force Awakens) and 2016 (The Last Jedi) did.
The final film was a huge disappointment for new fans like me, who had felt drawn to the very thing that got abandoned in 2017;
Raw, untamed power.

The same raw untamed Aries power we now have in our skies, but that is always available to us.

What the sequel trilogy understood – and what it desperately tried to undo in 2017, scared shitless by the polarizing fanbase dynamics it had unleashed – was that the Dark Side could be seductive.

Contrary to earlier trilogies, The Force Awakens gave us a magnetic dark-side prince with wavy black curls and flying black robes.
Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver.

And rumor has it he knew from the first film his arc would be one of redemption.
His reckless, raw and untamed behavior would lead to a happy end.
Until December 2017, and it didn’t.

Weeks before premiere, the film was butchered into submission.
With Driver sending in last minute audio, per request. Recorded in his wardrobe closet for best acoustics.

Scenes filled out with stand-ins we spotted from lightyears away.

There was no happy end.

And yet the raw untamed power, unleased in 2015, could not be undone.

And guess what?
It never can.

you have everything you need

There are choices to be made about what you believe
Mine is that your life is so valuable, it will not be wasted
—

A deeper layer of commitment.
That’s how I would label the newest addition to what has accumulated to quite an impressive pile of Life choices.

A pile which is also, in all fairness, impressively disorganized.
And of which I, similarly to a pile of disorganized clothes, only use the top layer.

Yet I know that if I start digging, usually in the form of reading my notebooks, vision, or planning, back;
I find tremendous stuff.

Would be easier if I didn’t!
Then I could just toss everything I did out, but No.
The pile with unused clothes always comes up with remarkable stuff.

But this new realization is not buried yet, it’s still on top. “Shiny and new” as the lyrics to Madonna’s Like a Virgin go.
And it definitely has a certain Virgin/Artemis/ post-apocalyptic warrior vibe to it.

“This work will get done. And I will do it alone, because if I needed a partner to do it, he’d be here.”

Now, I would definitely agree with you that finding out what our purpose is in this life, is no easy task.
Got you.
And you’re right.

However, I think we can very easily agree on what this life is definitely not for.

For waiting.
For hoping.
For spending time in places we do not find joy nor meaning, and that includes online spaces that meet those criteria.

Life is not meant for clinging to people we “lost” months ago, or never connected fully with to begin with.

I’m not that literate on religious works but I’m guessing they all come down to;
Life comes with meaning and purpose.
And the wasting of life itself, being its primary sin.

Your time, your energy, your attention, your emotions;
They are your currency.
Given to you, personally, put into your backpack marked Life, so you can do whatever it is you are here to do.

If you do not have the resources to accomplish a certain task, then you will not be held accountable.

But for the work that has your name on it?
Check your bag, it’s all there.

But do not attach, because all platforms and even your own skillset are ultimately subject to change.

Where your message is eternal.

It used to be one of the things I learned studying business, that I thought was so useful, insightful, and something every business owner should know!
That any business is only as good as their systems.

Systems for example for offering online courses, for taking orders, packaging, processing payments, registrations and so on, are the real value, of our business.

If your systems work great, you can even sell your business.
And to the highest bidder of which there will be many!
Or setup a franchise system, which comes down to leasing out your set of systems.

And not just in-house tech.
Platforms too, which you use to get your content out or the money in, are part of your systems.
This is the infamous:
“Don’t build your house on somebody else’s ground.” – wisdom.
A warning, that if you build a business relying on a platform, it could all be taken away from you.

Something I am experiencing because I have been unable to access my website.
Only in this case, I had paid for use of the ground, but the payment went wrong triggering the landowner’s accountant and they kicked me off.
Thankfully, access has been restored, but a residual hiccup persists, and the url currently still has “wordpress” in there.
The main url is not in place yet.

But what I learned was what is wrong with the idea that a business = systems.
There is another way, which is to rely on YOU;
Not on your systems.

For a regular business owner, or an accountant, or someone who loves building systems?
Yes.
Your business SHOULD be to build systems.

But a Rock Star was born in freedom, and what they sell is the promise of that.
The medium they use, is simply the one they have access to today.

Understanding what the moving parts are of having a business can turn out to be an indispensable life skill.
Knowing how to make money on your own, how to create something and sell it, is the only skill that allows you to take care of yourself and your loved ones, fully on your own terms.

Industries change, jobs disappear, and the public sector is under seige with every budget cut.
As is your integrity and the standards you are allowed to have.

Entrepreneurship can be done in many ways, but the more visible the more you will reap the personal benefits of personal growth.
Because pushback will arise, because money is power. And money earned independently is even more power.

It is in the visibility of positioning yourself as a leader, you are galvanized into a new you who can stand the heat.

It is there, the Rock Star arises.

When the heaviness pulls you down, and unnamed fears make their most unwelcome comeback;
embrace them like a lover returned.

There can be many real and identifiable reasons disturbing our faith, emotions, identity.
And at least one of them is Rock Star specific.

For what goes up, must come down.
Euphoria followed by a clingy, needy, unsatisfied anger.
Or intense loneliness.

Like every real Rock Star will tell you, about how they feel in their hotel room afterwards, in particular because they usually travel without a significant other.

Our society has us close to being programmed to wanting a regulated life.
Peak-performance theories try to change that into the ambition to lead an extraordinary life.

But no one could prepare you, for a life where the highs are high, and the inevitable lows have you pondering if maybe…. just maybe;
Should you settle down?

Creatively, in particular.
Who would notice if your high was not that high anymore?
And the extremes were capped to manageable proportions.

Then remember you are doing this because every time you fully engage, with your passion, your work, the things you love and people you love;
The well of love in you is filling up!

And in your fullest expression, it’s flowing out of you.
Regenerating? Yes! But sooner or later also at the same time;
Emptying it out.
Completely.

The darkness you feel inside of you, can only be filled with love;
But WHAT you love, is just a projection.

You, are source.

You know at least two haunting daunting projects or tasks that await you.
One recent and one old.
And you can not do them, and no one would notice.

“They’re both old, and I still haven’t done them”
I would say to Suzanne 2023.
Because they are.
Although one of them has definitely cleared up a lot. It should not be such a big deal for me anymore to tackle it (it’s clearing out the basement).

And although I still agree with Suzanne 2023;
I would also argue or reassure her that the KNOWING you’re out of integrity, is really what’s doing the magic here.
Not the acting on it.

The not-being in integrity is in your sloppy, messy, annoyed, I-can’t-even, thoughts about it.
Not in the “it” itself.

In other words: I would say awareness is what brings integrity.
Not the action.

A cleared basement is out of integrity if it was attained by not attending to other more important duties.
Or if you bully your family members into keeping it clean.

It reminds me of when we lived abroad when I was a child. The children of a bunch of families regularly played outside, unsupervised.
And we were given a couple of rules, from which I remember only one, probably because we systematically broke it;
We were not supposed to turn over any rocks, because there could be snakes and scorpions underneath.

With this in mind, we took turns turning the stones, with the other children at safe distance.
The one who turned the stone, flipped it over, immediately fleeing back.
Tiptoeing we’d make our way back, to see what was there.

“We always we were always turning rocks…” I said to my mother, when we were already back in the Netherlands.

She paused then said:
“But you were careful though.”

She had never told me what to do;
She had learned me to be aware.

I have to say, I was a bit stunned at how much I needed to hear this message, 2.5 years after writing those opening words…

As if I pulled a super-matching oracle card from a deck I do not own, or Instagram served me a post from an unknown account.
And I saved it as background picture for my phone:
“My luck! This is just what I need!” 

Because the times they are achanging.
And I am at that point where you have your swimming cap and goggles on, at the edge of the pool.
Taking a very deep, slightly hurdled and emotional breath, knowing this is the only way forward.

The management summary is this:
My work will be limited to 40h a week, including content creation.
And this is new.

My creativity has always come first, but because of this my workhours have gotten completely and utterly out of hand.
In particular if I include what I will call:
“Creative loss.”
Which is being “sidetracked” by my creative mind, which cannot function in a minimalist productivity environment.

Creativity needs wandering, and in my case that wandering was often online.
The tabs on my computer have been like windows to the world, and I no longer want that;

I want my window to be 100% connected to real people!

And then, maybe, a tiny bit to education too. But very targeted, very specific.
And within the 8 hours.

And at 18.00?
This window will close.
On weekends?
Dito.
To give more breathing room to my social life, but also;
To start curating my 20 year big body of work.

*soft sigh*

A task of Herculean proportions.

And a journey that starts like all the others, with a single step or an insecure dive.

And more often than not;
Alone.

ABOUT THE LOST POST SERIES

I have been consistently posting “What Do Rock Stars Need To Hear Today” for a while now.
Starting June 2023, they found their final form as blogposts here on the Catacombe blog, pretty quickly.

But I’ve always been aware there were singular posts/ borderline poetry, still on social media, floating somewhere down my timeline.

Some at the beginning when I did not know what this series would be.
Some around the time in October/November 2023, when I lost access to this site.
And then a few in between.

And in addition to that there are the ones I did post on the blog, but whose stories revolve around things I no longer offer.
I will retrieve those too;
And give them a new story, that has the timeless quality they deserve.
