Which is a very uncomfortable truth (Trust me, I know!) but hear me out.
Because Rock Star you are and always have been, a symbol of Freedom.
Well, freedom of what, if not society’s relentless repression of our sexuality?

As opposed to other artists, a Rock Star does not lead with their creative expression;
They lead by owning their sexuality.

3. This work is YOURS 05:17
It’s not about advocating for sexuality, nor theorizing about it.
(I’m walking on thin ice with this video, I know!)
Instead, a Rock Star’s job is to be an actual physical embodiment of sexual power.

You liberate by who you are.

4. The temptation of Normal 06:22
The struggle is real!
There is something so alluring to keeping this part of yourself hidden and do work and have roles where we are a dime-a-dozen worker bee or that ambitious goalgetter who gets a lot of respect.
And by all means, give yourself that!!

But always remember those comfortable roles are not why you are here.
Those moments are a luxury, and they are not your highest work.

5. The Sex Card 08:46
You’ve been dealt a hand of cards, and this one really is yours.
Not a popular card, no one would choose it because it has such low status.
But if you’ve got it, you’ve got it.

And for good reason……

6. It’s how your purpose gets done 10:23
Your sexual power is supposed to go into your full creative expression.
It was given to you, to fuel your message and let your art reach the people it is supposed to reach.

In conclusion, a Rock Star’s sexuality is both the medium, as well as the message.

And this time the topic is RESPECT.
We rebooted this series a few weeks ago.
Changes that were made are:
– Vids are now 10 minutes.
– And I go in without preparation.
The unprepared part can never prevent that I think about the topic in advance.

But luckily those insights had their own way of disappearing and by now I have no way to reach them anymore.
So unprepared indeed!

2. Respect “versus” Disrespect 01:11
Except that it’s almost impossible to separate the two!
They’re like Siamese twins.

3. Show, don’t tell 03:03
The key is to show respect, not naming or claiming it.
Which makes respect very actionable:
“How can I show respect?”
Even when you may question aspects of someone.

“How can I respect the people around me?”
And:
“How can I respect the work I have to do?”

4. All responsibilities are created equal 05:48
And no one is more valuable, or worth of more respect than the other.
Even streaming Netflix can be done in a valuable way.

Because we’re covering so many hefty subjects, we’re gonna need a breather every now and then 😅
So as a comic relief, I will make another one about sexuality.
Something that for many of us, is lighthearted!

Plan on making that a recurring theme for this series, just to wash out all the seriousness and start afresh.

2. Interventions done right 02:17
Not an expert here, but came at it from the inquiry:
“But what would a GOOD intervention, actually look like?!”
+ definition what intervention even is, or what we usually mean when we’re talking about interventions.

3. Do it alone 03:40
Do it with the minimum amount of people, ideally one-on-one.
(make adjustments if needed, in particular for your own safety)
Maybe “official” interveners have a different perspective on this, but to me 1-on-1 is ideal because respect and equality should be leading.
Not overpowering the person you’re intervening on, by six to one or whatever, is a good start.

4. Don’t tie it to your support or presence 05:05
Before the intervention, already make a decision whether you’re going to stay in this person’s life (even if it might be in a small way) or if you are leaving (but with the door open for when they’re clean/sober).
Communicate the decision with clarity, very early in the meeting.
Make clear that this decision is independent from how the person responds to the intervention.

5. Empowerment 07:00
Make it a respectful conversation, honoring the choices someone has made or is making, and coming at it from them being in the director’s chair of their life.
Or you reminding them of the truth of them being in control.

An intervention done right is about respecting yourself (the intervener), respecting the other (the intervened) and speaking in a way that invites them to respect themselves.

Let’s explore this concept a little bit deeper.

I’m only going to share what pops to mind immediately, off-the-cuff, no preparation.
In the age of AI, the biggest advantage real humans have is that they share embodied knowledge.
It’s not just information, it’s an energetic transmission.
The way to assure this embodied information, is not just to only share what you know and live by;
But also to not create abstractions, generalizations, or new models from it.
Just share it in the raw form.

You were always ON A PATH.
It may not have been by choice, it could have been a questionable way to live your life; And it may have been far from ideal and not something you recommend or care to repeat but nevertheless;
A path is a path!

So a comeback means you’re coming back to (positive) visibility.
But you’ve never been away from your path.

Do you feel like marking this new beginning, and the change in who you have become?
Then looking into your Redemption Arc, could be helpful.

What was your lowest point, or the moment you crossed over to the dark side? What was the moment you thought you would die.
Yet you made a different choice and saved yourself, or you were saved by higher powers.
That, is the story of your redemption.

The Redemption Arc, is how you can understand – and share if you wish – the story of your fall and your rise/ comeback, in a meaningful and memorable way.

Opening with the disclaimer that I am not the right person to talk about belonging in the normal sense of the word, because I have no idea how to belong in the traditional sense.

So I fear I may have little correct.
But this (or another) movie from the 80s does illustrates perfectly what traditional belonging is all about.

3. Lessons on belonging (being halfway in life) 04:24
About the cost of belonging, and the trap of settling for “fitting in”.
Fitting in is a highly stressful situation.

Coming back to the Witches of Eastwick story;
They didn’t belong, but at least, they didn’t have the burden of having to fit in either!

The difference between “Core Culture” versus the lone wolves of the Outer Rim.
And how the training for Core Culture starts in childhood, and is cumulative. Everything builds on “the busiest lane”, or what most people have chosen previously.
Making the same choices as most people, proverbially picking the busiest lane, is essential to reap the benefits of being in core culture.

But what is a Rock Star? And what is a Legacy?
So much context for this one, right? I have no idea where to start

The short version? What you leave behind after you’re dead.
And even thinking about this concept in itself, is such a singular thing to do….

Why they are relevant with regard to Legacy;
And how they relate to the concepts of Core Culture and Outer Rim.

How relevant your work will be in the future, is impossible to predict.
Because whether a future Core Culture is open or authoritarian (closed), is impossible to predict.

Don’t put all your artistic eggs in the Legacy basket of “After I die”;
Because there’s just so much uncertainty there!

The story of 20th century diarist Anais Nin is a great example of how we cannot know which part of our work will be the most relevant.

Do only the work (of connection) that requires you are still ALIVE.
And refuse the work that can still be done when you’re dead.

This episode is about inspiration and I have the tiniest bit of inspiration, but definitely not the whole thing outlined.
So let’s go!

In a workshop I heard what it is that CREATES inspiration!!!
It’s moving from the higher emotions back to the lower ones. And vice versa.
And I indeed was able to find a scientific study to back it.
(as indicated in the video, I would go look for it)

Productivity is our number one survival skill.

The lower emotions are dangerous to your survival, and the higher emotions are compartmentalized.
Like once a year, on the biggest feast of the region wherever you live, you can let go.

For the rest of the year, as we say in the Netherlands:
“Just act normal. That is already crazy enough.”
Except when it is Carnaval, which is one of our few outlets.

So I have no idea what I’m going to say.

Power is so much about the non-doing.
The non-saying, the not being in connection with or in relationship to.
Power resists the high levels of interaction, that have become the norm and are expected.

Power creates space, that is its biggest gift.

After spending days in my head with this movie I knew I had to let this topic go before Monday, in order to pick up my regular work including videos for this channel.
Until I realized this movie was exactly the right topic to illustrate our video with!!

I will illustrate this topic with the male protagonist of the movie Babygirl;
Samuel, a 20-something intern in a big tech company.

The only movie I know that has not one but TWO, protagonists in their Rock Star Sexuality, is Basic Instinct (1992).

The male protagonist in Babygirl, possesses a dominant Rock Star Sexuality.
Why that is, how it expresses, and an observation that the strength of his power, is missed by almost anyone who watches it.
