Sacred Solitude | 2025 12 02 | That ONE Book (start at any page)

For years, and usually in December, I get that itch to reboot my life;
Get with the program;
Sit my ass down;
And finally fully commit to that one book, that I always vow I will one day read properly.

Not because I want to honor the author or to be in-the-know. Nor to up my credibility as a whatever, No.

The reason I feel it is so important, is to get my shit together by finally reading this thing cover-to-cover, make it my bible, quote it and to live by it every word, is because I know it will save my life.
And I’m already on my way to my book shelves before I get smacked over the head with the realization that this book does not exist.

Sure, I own books that are close to it, but they are not the same thing as “The Book”.
The Book That Does Not Exist then, apparently.

It is shocking how this book is so vividly present in my imagination, that I keep “returning to it”.
Except there is obviously nothing to return to.

I came to realize this book is in fact mine to write.
In my mind I have called it “The” One Book, referring to that it should be the only one you need.
And I’ve called it “That” One Book, in the brief moments I assumed it was already written by someone else, and all I needed to do was get to the shelves and fetch it.

My dream for this book was that its chapters should be short and with a clear title.
Reading it should be more about the dedicated routine of reading itself, than about the content.

May every chapter represent 5 minutes of your life, spent in sacred solitude.

Maybe you will light a candle or keep a journal on hand. But there won’t be any questions or assignments.

This book should be filled with chapters that bring closure.
And offer peace.

Suddenly all the stories were about Sinterklaas | Share Your Work 2025 12 01

“Even if I was invited, I would decline.”

There was one friend who understood the kind of investment Sinterklaas in my family, actually entailed.
And that it wasn’t for the faint at heart.

The celebrations have been passed on to the next generation, and I am no longer included.
I used to wonder why I didn’t miss it, since it had been the highlight of my year.

But before I elaborate it’s probably a good idea to explain the Dutch tradition of Sinterklaas.

Sinterklaas is pretty much just like Christmas celebrations, where children get their presents straight from The Man Himself.
But here it’s 5 December, instead of the 25th.

And Dutch children get rhymes with their presents, and “surprises’ which is hand-crafted themed-packaging.

F.e. if you get tickets to a soccer match, you may get a “surprise” in the form of an old soccer ball, and the tickets are hid inside.

However, it is not just a Children’s fest as many adult friend groups or extended families can also have a Sinterklaas party.
They buy presents for each other, make rhymes and surprises too.

And in the case of highly competitive adults all bidding against one another who has made Sint the best rhymes and has come up with the funniest verses;
This is when Sinterklaas-night can become the artistic highlight of the year.
And in our case, it did.

The work you put in was just as rewarding as the night itself.

Every year I made somewhere between 20 and 30 presents, beautifully wrapped and all with a rhyme.
And every year I had no idea how I would get it done.
It was a lot!
But it was so incredibly rewarding.

Yet, I never missed it once it stopped. By then, my creative energy had already found its way into my writing.
52 weeks a year.

This year I even started with a content calendar, which is a production schedule.
By now I create 5 pieces of content per week, for different accounts.

It’s like creating 5 different gifts, and I always fear I started too late and it won’t get done.
But it always does.

As if Sinterklaas still gives it a blessing.

Many days you will have a discipline, a routine of familiar practices to predictable outcomes.

But the true work, is showing up for whatever happens that day.

Every time I am certain I’ve now thought enough about my peculiar life choices, that I’ve recalibrated yet again and yes still stand by what must seem  like odd choices, at surface level at least;
I get sucked into a new cycle.

Making just one small course correct!
Just a little something I found on the internet!
And that makes so much sense and will just increase the impact of whatever it is I am doing, bring what I desire, or that will solve that aching problem;
I end up in failure and frustration, yet again.
And sit down thinking it over.

Without exception, I notice it was all already exactly as it should be.
That the problem was not in me choosing the wrong interventions;
It was in me still being susceptible for solutions or tempting upgrades to begin with.

But the work that needs to be done will flow through you!
And if it doesn’t, then it’s not yours.
It will get done by forces bigger than us, or, alternatively, it doesn’t need to get done at all.
Maybe it was merely a projection of some outdated belief about being good or being responsible.

You know what is responsible?
Acting on your calling.
Which means doing the work that arrives at your doorstep, or in your thoughts, again and again.

But after that?
No longer your problem.

Maybe you feel CALLED to promote your work, or to find a place where you will be paid for it.
Then go ahead!
It’s part of the calling.

Maybe you feel called to save your work, curate it, publish it.
Great!
Clearly part of your calling.
You could feel CALLED to save someone else’s legacy and publish that.

But as a rule?
What happens to your work, is not your work.

Thank God.

And now I can’t belief I didn’t see it before!

Big disclaimer here that I don’t even know what the official definition is. And the rule of this series is I’m not supposed to prepare these videos!
But regardless, I think it will be a very interesting video.

2. Social Conditioning 00:57
Warning that I think very negatively about this concept, but the way I see it, is that Social Conditioning is basically a web of lies, worked into your unconscious psyche

Like software that is programmed there (in your own head) that you don’t know exists
🤓
And that shouldn’t be there, if you want to live a life of meaning.

We may agree with the underlying social idea of them, such as the concept of non-violence, but because they’re executed so poorly, they provide inconsistent outcomes at best.
And enable inequality and repression, at worst.

2. Social Conditioning for Women 05:25
Not mentioned in this video, but for men it’s things like having to repress their emotions, being a provider, not being allowed to be sensitive.

Also not in the video, but in general, you can say Social Conditioning robs women of their power and men of their humanity.

3. The Matrix 05:50
This movie where the people do not know they are living inside a simulation, is a good movie to imagine how we too, are living in this matrix of social conditioning.
Not realizing, it’s not the real world.

4. The Big Evil of Our Time? 06:47
Well, in a way….
Social Conditioning would have been The Big Evil of Our Time, had it not been around for thousands of years.
Probably since the agricultural revolution.

5. Experiment 07:27
If you encounter shame in yourself, fear, or other sudden negative emotions, it’s a good habit to track this.
Is this you, or is this your Social Conditioning talking?

What rises and what falls.
What waxes, what wanes.

The older I get the more I realize:
“We don’t build anything. Don’t actually create anything either. Not really.
It is already done.”

There is a driving force beneath it, that we can feel and make the most of, or we can ignore it and try to make something with our own bare hands 100 meters to the right of it.
Achieving of course, nothing.

Because the foundation, the groundwork, was never supposed to be done by us.
It was already woven into the fabric of our existence, and we were only meant to pick it up from the thresholds of our dimension, and bring it into our world.

And this exceeds professional and creative endeavors;
It is in everything.
Or, alternatively, it isn’t.
And then it will never fly, never really be done, and fall apart the moment you take your eyes off of it.

I believe – and you might fiercely disagree with me on this!- that all the work is done in the other dimension. Our own influence is incredibly limited.
Which can be both a good, as well as a bad thing.

It’s good news, if we’re drowning in destructive emotions like hate (including self-hate), shame, despair and terror.
It would take some force from a dimension we do not understand, to manifest anything irreversible there.
You not being the main creator of your reality, could be the very thing that saves your ass here.

But the alternative is also true;
If we really, really want something, and no matter how we come at it, reality just won’t budge?
Oh that sucks.
A lot.

It can pay off to look for movement in this fabric of our reality.
Where does it vibrate with expectation?
Where does it stretch and expand, as if something is coming into existence?

Where, does it call your name.

Bugonia versus Predator | Share Your Work 2025 11 17

Yes!
I am that one person who did not like the arthouse movie Bugonia.

It was playing at our regular theatres as well, which explains why I saw it.

I do see arthouse movies there occasionally, either intentionally or simply because I forgot to put on my Arthouse Vision Goggles, to detect any movies outside the narrow margins of my cinematic spectrum.

Here in the Netherlands, as well as on YouTube, reviews about Bugonia have been unanimously positive.
Some going as far as to call it the best movie of the year.
And I would have let them and would never have mentioned that I saw Bugonia, had it not been for watching another movie about Aliens within two weeks after my impressive achievement of sitting through Bugonia;
Predator Badlands.

Now that, is what I would call the best movie of the year.

I am basically new to the Predator franchise.
My interest was sparked this year, when I saw a video explaining how 1st generation night-vision goggles in Vietnam, may have provided the story for the first Predator movie (1987).
These goggles were so effective you could even see into other dimensions, and see DEMONS!
😱

And I had also seen the trailer, so I knew this movie was set on a foreign planet, and revolved around a predator (a Yautja), his tribe and the habits of his clan;
And it was about a female robot, or cyborg, I never know the difference.

The Yautja and the robot team up. The Yautja wants her help to kill a large prey to earn the respect of his clan, and the robot needs his help because she has been stuck and also lost her legs.
Both will have to face the harsh reality of the “families” they were born into.

As opposed to Bugonia, there are no humans in Predator Badlands. Only robots and aliens. Including the protagonist, a predator or Yautja named Dek.

And yet, it is this movie that ends up being profoundly moving, with a message about belonging and love.

Predator Badlands, a movie devoid of humans, is about what it means to be a human;
And get it right.

Then you got your message.

If the number of dreams overwhelm you;
Ask what does each dream represent?
Whose dream is it, which version of you?

It’s been over two years since I wrote those words.
And by now I can testify that sometimes dreams get stuck, are not what they seem, and it can be frustratingly hard to carve out the actual dream from the solid mass in which they’re hiding.

And also that not knowing where you are on the journey, can be a blessing.
The reason I could work in 2023, was because I felt so on track!

And yet, little remained of the things I started. 

You can be excited about being en route, when the ultimate destination, if you even want to call it that, ends up having very little to do with where you thought you were going.

And yet, had I not gone after my dreams in 2023, I would never have ended up where I am today.

Here’s what I learned:

The most important one is to “just” start; But to keep it small.
Avoid designing a long-term path, and instead focus on making small steps.

Every journey and project, even the failed ones (maybe especially those!) provides so much valuable information about yourself and about your dreams as well.
And about how to get there.

See your attempts at achieving your dreams simply as experiments, and not as a binary thing where it is good if “it worked”, and you failed if there are no results.

Every attempt provides you with information.

The second piece of advice is to let your path be rooted in something you love doing.

F.e. I love abstract thinking, writing and planning.

But yours could be being part of a community, sharing your dreams with a (business) partner, or connecting in other ways.

You may have to actively sculpt your path to include those elements.

But after 2 years and 4 months?
It’s all that remains.

With the SEASONAL take on SEXUALITY.
Because the videos in this series are so heavy, I will be making a Rock Star Take on Sexuality every season.
To try to keep things a tad lighter than usual!

2. The importance of sexual identity 01:17
Sexuality has the power to reveal where the electric fence of society is keeping you imprisoned, is keeping you small.

If your sexuality is different from the norm, then this process of individuation is engrained in the coming out itself. Often resulting in making bold decisions in other areas as well.
After you’ve freed yourself from societal expectations, a whole new world of options opens up.

But if we’re straight, it is tempting to stay under the radar, and avoid confrontation, which also leads to not owning other areas.

3. The electric fence of social conditioning 06:37
When you cross this invisible line, you set off a network of shame and repression which has been internalized by people.
The negative messages you receive, are actually people speaking a message that is not their own, as if their mind has been taken over.

Reference to the movie Fallen (1998) where a demon can take over people, hopping from one person to the next.

4. Why standing up for yourself is so scary 09:52
When it comes to sexuality, it takes tremendous courage to stand up for yourself, because you’re facing incredibly powerful forces.
And an enemy that you cannot see, because it’s one that has worked itself into the minds of well-meaning people.

5. Why standing up for yourself is so incredibly powerful 10:55
It shows you who you’re dealing with, and overcoming this strengthens you tremendously.

Showing up for yourself, and not avoiding difficult conversations where you hold your ground with regard to what it is you are comfortable sharing, and how you want to be treated-
that’s where the power lies.

“To be understood at an energetic level.”
My new wording of what it is I see myself doing, or growing into, does not exactly feel natural yet.
Maybe it never will, I don’t know.
But it does feel as true.

Because with the overload of information available, and our instincts to combat complex situations and problems with adaptable and agile solutions (or with equally complex structures) I foresee the end is either in sight, or already behind us.

There is only one place to return to, and this is our body.
Not the mind, so easily replicated by AI, but the body.

Have you realized how deprived we have become?
In our digital experience we use our eyes, then audio, but our tactile experience is limited to typing.

Just think about the rich experience of taking a music cassette out of the small case;
The touch of a crispy sleeve of a vinyl record;
Or the mechanical sounds of a VHS tape clicking into the player.

I even remember the smell from the music section in the library, because the plastic cover sleeves of the vinyl records had such a peculiar, delicious smell.

I know a building where a rubber wheelchair dorpel over the doorstep makes the whole hallway smell like the building of the primary school I went to, when I was very small.
It’s like a timeportal in scent.

We’re so deprived right now, we’ve lived in a sensatory desert the past decade.
I expect people will look back on the 2020’s and wonder if we didn’t realize our entire physical experience had been marginalized.
Where the richness of life has slipped through our fingers.

Right now, one road leads to us becoming bad robots.
The other to us embracing our physical Self.

And with that?
Our vibration.

I’ve been right, and I’ve been wrong.
And in the most confusing cases, I was right and wrong at the same time.

Right, because I was definitely on to something.
Something life-changing and potent, like uncovering a Great Secret!

And wrong, because the element I identified as being the key ingredient here, never had anything to do with anything.

I’ve had it with wanting to be a photographer, I’ve had it with choosing to be a yoga teacher;
I’ve had it with identifying as an entrepreneur, yet now expect to be immune to it with my new profession, because now I know.
But I will tell you about that another day.

Today I will take you back to Madonna in 1985.

This was the year Madonna had her international breakthrough.
The summer the world got to know her through Live Aid.
Director Susan Seidelman got herself a blockbuster, courtesy of the unknown Madonna she had cast in a supporting role.
And the year every 13 year old knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up;
Madonna.

After what seemed way-too-short a time (the Madonna inspired collections in department stores had not even reached The Netherlands yet!) Madonna changed her look in a way 13-y.o. mini-Me viewed as going from owning the whole fucking world, to owning flower-patterned dresses.
I fell out of love immediately.

Luckily for me, in 1986 Bon Jovi made it big with You Give Love A Bad Name and Livin’ On A Prayer.
We had a radio show on Friday night with Adam Curry. The only one within our borders who was able to pronounce American names correctly.

When he talked over the guitar-heavy intro of your hit song, casually pronouncing your name ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than any other person would;
That was when you were crowned King, here.

Both Madonna and Bon Jovi have known different musical eras, but what I learned is that to me their music was never their defining characteristic.
What got me hooked was them being the Rock Gods of The Universe.

And not appointed by Adam Curry;
But self-proclaimed.
